Additional Information
For SALE - Hydrocarbon seepage database owned by (ETI) Exploration Technologies, Inc. This database provides the most extensive and complete coverage of the entire Gulf of Mexico shelf that has ever been collected - or will ever be collected again. Maximize your exploration s success in the Gulf of Mexico. This data has been proven to be 88% effective in finding new commercial production. This Marine sniffer database extends from Florida to the Mexican border, covering the entire Texas and Louisiana offshore shelf. This data is extremely valuable because much of it was collected from 1974 to 1983, long before many of the producing fields were discovered. The potential of this data has been confirmed by drilling. In 1940 DeGolyer stated that oil and gas seeps had resulted in the discovery of more oil and gas fields than any other single method. Amazingly, 39 years after the centennial issue of the Oil and Gas Journal (January 28, 1979) stated, "Drilling on oil seeps and trends is as good a way of prospecting today as it was then and down the years more oil has probably been found by the use of these simple principles than from all the new techniques of geology and geophysics combined." The very latest “Otis” and recently completed “Gigante” deep water seep surveys conducted by TGS/TDI-Brooks/Fugro provide a clear demonstration of the current value for finding and measuring hydrocarbon seeps. Gulf Oil/ETI sniffer database would provide an excellent guide for focusing additional seep detection surveys using
these new multibeam, echosounder and subbottom profiler systems, confirming and more accurately defining these seepages while adding seafloor bathymetry for identifying hydrocarbon seepage features on the seafloor.
Given the very low price for oil, it is more important than ever to maximize the potential for discovering oil versus gas, defining blocks that have the most economic potential and for discovering condensate and/or oil reservoirs. The presence of an oily seep proves the presence of a deep oil source for filling any potential traps. Gulf Oil/ETI sniffer database provides oil type source information on approximately 5000 of the 13,000 blocks being offered for sale in the upcoming August 2017 lease sale. The presence of one or more oily composition seeps when coupled with seismic can define potential subsurface traps having the greatest potential for an economic return in this challenging environment.
